What About Me?
Health Information and Classes for Young Women
Generously underwritten by The Ted and Ruth Bauer Foundation
The Women's Fund "What about Me" program helps girls learn how to be healthy and gives girls the tools and life skills they need to be successful.
The Women's Fund is collaborating with school and after-school programs to implement the What about me? A girl's guide to health curriculum with middle school students. The What about me? book and curriculum explore nutrition, active lifestyles, body image, self-esteem, relationships, stress, mental health, and many other health related topics of relevance to young girls. The curriculum consists of ten 60-minute sessions with activities and discussions that are appropriate for girls ages 11-16.
The Women's Fund has partnered with Citizen Schools after-school program, YES Prep, Southwest Schools, Spring Branch ISD, and other schools and organizations to reach middle school girls through these classes. The Women's Fund is always looking for volunteer teachers and individuals or organizations who are interesting in hosting a class. Webinar training sessions are available to learn how to provide the activity curriculum.
Read what other young women say about the book and what they learned!
"This book really helped with issues that I wouldn’t necessarily want to ask my mom about. I could just pick up What About Me? and read about it rather than asking."
"It can really help someone deal with any problems they are going through and make things a lot easier. And to keep them from making mistakes you can’t change."
