Health Information and Classes for Women


The women’s health and advocacy program teaches women to practice prevention and be proactive about their health care in order to reduce illness and promote enjoyment of life.

You can do something to change the statistics below by learning about your own health!
  • In Texas 17% of women are considered to be in fair or poor health, compared to the national average of 12.8%.
  • Texas ranks 43rd in the utilization of preventive screening
  • Texas has the 14th highest rate of adult obesity in the nation at 27.9%, and for Harris County, 60% of women are considered obese.
